Atid Lod High School for Sciences was founded in 1994 as a magnet school for students who want to enrich their knowledge and broaden their horizons in Arts, Sciences, and Humanities.
Our school population is comprised of gifted students from all over the district seeking a good foundation to enter the academic world.
Students have the choice of majoring in one or more of the following: Physics, Computer Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Arabic.
In pursuit of excellence, many students take part in math and science youth projects and competitions at the most renowned universities in Israel.
We especially take pride in our cyber team that has won the 2015 Israeli Cyber and Computer Championship.
Thanks to the school’s size, we are able to preserve a somewhat family like environment, where everyone knows everyone and teachers talk to their students eye to eye. 55 teachers, 20 of whom have been teaching here for more than 20 years, teach and educate 700 students in grades 9 through 12.
Apart from the regular curriculum, we offer plenty of extra- curricular activities, including but not limited to the following:
* FIRST Robotics Competition – Our special pride is in our Robotics team, The Spikes, whose participants take part in the annual FIRST Competition, volunteer in the community, judge at the FLL and Jr. FLL competitions, organize national study days and mentor students from periphery.
* Debate – The school has become a powerhouse, leading and participating in community, national and international projects and competitions, training coaches. Our students have represented Israel as national team members at the European and World Championships and Youth Forums since 2001.
* Model United Nations – 15 years of participation in the project held at the American International School, lauded by the Best Delegation title three times and The Certificate of Merit acknowledging the school contribution to the project (including mentoring students from periphery and chairing committees)
* “We are Similar – We are Different” Project – A joint educational collaborative program with a Moscow School, focusing on a wide variety of topics including tradition, history, culture, envisioning future, technology and science and arts in both countries.
* School bands and ensembles, sports teams, chess, Dungeons and Dragons, knitting, environmental arts workshop, Chinese, photography, drama classes, Jerusalem Museum study days and workshops and many more complete the mosaic of extra-curricular activities. Community service is one of the core values we try to grant out students, setting two weekly periods for volunteer work in our area. Our activities include volunteering at the community garden, local elementary schools, kindergartens, the local elderly citizens’ home and other institutions. We see high school as an experience which redefines the high school institution from a place where students go because they have to, to a place they go because they want to.
